Tall Candle

About

Two people and a shelf of games

Tall Candle is written by two people who have played online games that run in a web page for a long time and got tired of reviews that never said how much of a week the game would take.

One of us keeps builders going for years. The other wants a round to end and a winner declared. Between us we cover most of what these games ask of a person, and we disagree often enough to keep the scores honest.

Why evenings

The question we were always asked by friends was never "is it good?" but "will it eat my week?" So the site is organised around that. A ten-minute game and a standing-appointment game can both be excellent; they are just for different lives, and the home page is built so you can find the right one in thirty seconds.

What we do not cover

We do not review gambling products of any kind, nor games that ask for money before you can start. Everything here can be opened in a web page on a modest laptop and played without paying.

How the site pays for itself

Through affiliate links on the buttons that open a game. If you sign up through one, the publisher may pay us a small commission. That covers hosting and not much else. Verdicts are locked before links are added and no publisher has seen a review before publication.

Artwork

Game artwork is taken from the publishers' own press and promotional material and is used to identify the game being reviewed. It belongs to them. If you hold the rights to an image and would like it removed or credited differently, write to us.
