Tall Candle

FAQ

Questions people ask

Are these games really free?

Every game here can be started and played without paying. All of them sell something; the fairness score and the "what the shop sells" section of each review say what, and whether you will feel it.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Each game runs in an ordinary web browser. Several also have a mobile app that shares the same account, which we note under "where" in the small table.

What do the bands mean?

They describe what a game asks of an evening: ten minutes, part of an evening, or a standing appointment. The method page defines each one.

Why only five games?

Because each one is played for three weeks by two people before a word is written. We would rather do that properly than cover thirty games thinly.

Do publishers pay for reviews?

No. Buttons that open a game are affiliate links and may earn us a commission if you sign up, but the text and scores are locked before a link is added.

Do you review gambling or casino games?

No, and we never will. Tall Candle covers games that run in a web page and are played for their own sake.

Can I suggest a game?

Yes, on the contact page. Tell us how long you have played it and how much of your week it takes; that is the most useful thing you can send.

Is the site suitable for children?

It is written for adults. Several of the games reviewed have their own age ratings; check the publisher's page before signing up a younger player.
